First Six Months
I sat down to write this blog yesterday but the shop was so busy all day I never got the chance. That’s good. Six months ago we opened the doors. Five months ago we had our Grand Opening event. Both seem like yesterday. In another six months I’ll be writing about the first year and probably say the same thing. It’s been all that I expected and then some. It’s been fun, challenging, exciting at times and painfully slow at others. Best of all, it’s been relatively stress-free, current economy notwithstanding.
Friends have been made, the shop has begun to develop its own vibe and personality, and we’ve started to spread some roots in the community. I’m proud of the diversity I see in the shop every day and I haven’t witnessed a cross word between patrons yet. I wanted a relaxed, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and so far it’s worked out that way. For that I thank my regulars since they are the core of any shop.
Another milestone we reached this week was writing the first of what I hope are many checks to local charity. I chose the local women’s shelter for domestic violence and sexual assault victims to be our ongoing cause but there are others I hope to contribute to in time. Again, thanks to the WiseAsh community for making this possible.
Here’s looking forward to a bright future. If you’re reading this and have not visited the store, drop by, grab a stogie and get to know us. You’re welcome here, any time.
